Fiqh and Ahkam: The Practical Path from Knowledge to Practice
A curated set of the strongest Islamic fiqh apps: from fiqh encyclopedias and specialized single-chapter tools to commented classical matns, the fatwa archives of great contemporary scholars, and specialized institutes for each madhhab.
Fiqh is a practical science; its aim is not theory alone but knowing the ruling in order to apply it. We gathered here what suits every kind of user: the general reader with a single question, the person who needs specialized tools for a particular chapter like taharah or inheritance, the student who wants to study a matn with its commentary, the archives of great contemporary scholars like Ibn Baz and Ibn Uthaymin, and the specialized institutes for those who want structured study in the path of a particular madhhab.

How We Ordered This Collection
Fiqh takes two paths: the occasional question (what's the ruling on this?) and the structured study (how do I build a jurisprudential faculty?). We ordered the collection to serve both: reference encyclopedias and learning platforms for the general user and beginner, specialized apps for a single chapter of fiqh such as taharah and inheritance, a classical matn with its commentary for the student, fatwa archives from great imams that give both the ruling and its methodology, and specialized institutes where a student picks their madhhab and studies it in its own way.
Encyclopedias and Learning Platforms: the reference layer
Al-Mawsu'ah al-Fiqhiyyah is the celebrated Kuwaiti Encyclopedia of Fiqh — the foremost comparative fiqh reference of our time — with advanced search engines, summaries of the acts of worship that work offline, and English summaries for selected topics. Islamic Fiqh from the Usul platform is an interactive learning app that teaches fiqh in graduated steps with exercises and levels — ideal for beginners and those who learn best through a gamified format.
Single-Chapter Tools: Taharah and Inheritance
Not every fiqh question calls for opening an encyclopedia — some chapters are specialized enough to deserve their own dedicated tools. Tahara is a focused app on the rulings of ritual purity, with an approachable interface and clear content for anyone who wants to master this chapter that opens every book of fiqh. Al-Mawarith and Mawareeth, both from al-Dar al-Arabiyyah li-Taqniyat al-Ma'lumat, are inheritance calculators: enter the case data and get each heir's share with its scriptural evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah, across all four madhhabs, backed by a built-in scholarly library — among the most precise tools available for this delicate chapter today.
A Classical Matn With Its Commentary: The Path That Builds a Faqih
Building a real jurisprudential faculty cannot rest on encyclopedias and fatwas alone; it requires returning to the classical matns with their commentaries — the path walked by students of knowledge across the generations. We chose this app, from the Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin Foundation, as a model of what a fiqh-matn app should be: it brings together the authoritative text and the commentary of a major modern scholar in a comfortable interface accessible to beginners and advanced students alike.
Sharh Zad al-Mustaqni
Arabia For Information & TechnologyIbn Uthaymin's Sharh Zad al-Mustaqni': a Hanbali matn in a scholar's voice
Published by the Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin Foundation, this app brings together the Shaykh's commentary on Zad al-Mustaqni' — one of the most famous Hanbali fiqh matns — transcribed from his audio and video lessons in a modern, carefully edited form. It unites, for the student, the authenticity of the matn with the voice of its commentator.
Fatwa Archives from Great Contemporary Scholars
Many questions don't require reading a whole book; they need a trusted fatwa from a scholar well-versed in the particular issue. These four are the most prominent digital fatwa archives of our time: a multilingual reference platform, the official Ibn Baz encyclopedia alongside its curated selection, and Ibn Uthaymin's fatwas in their famous series.
IslamQA
Zad GroupIslamQA: the largest digital fatwa platform

Supports fifteen languages, with precise search and offline saving of answers. Suited to both the general Muslim and the student seeking a grounded answer in accessible language.
Ibn Baz Fatwa Encyclopedia
Zad GroupIbn Baz Fatwa Encyclopedia: the official Ibn Baz archive
The official app for the complete fatwas of Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Baz — his lessons, radio programmes, and published works — organized into categories with internal search. An indispensable reference for anyone seeking a ruling grounded in the Shaykh's methodology.
Selected Fatwas of Ibn Baz
Zad GroupSelected Fatwas of Ibn Baz: the most frequently needed rulings
A carefully curated selection from Shaykh Ibn Baz's fatwas covering the issues most commonly asked about in aqidah, fiqh, and mu'amalat — compiled by the scholarly team at the Ibn Baz Foundation. Complements the full encyclopedia with a faster entry point for the general reader.
Fatawa of Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin
Arabia For Information & TechnologyFatawa of Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin: six thousand rulings, from Noor 'ala al-Darb and beyond
Brings together three major series of the Shaykh's fatwas: the celebrated Noor 'ala al-Darb radio programme with roughly 6,950 rulings, his monthly public sessions, and his key books and treatises — all in a searchable interface. A reference for those comfortable with his methodology.
Madhhab Institutes: Study Your School in Its Own Way
Anyone wanting structured study in a specific madhhab should turn to these institutes: each school has its own ladder of books and terminology. Imam al-Buhuti Institute for Hanbali fiqh, Imam al-Nawawi Institute for Shafi'i fiqh, and 'Allamah Khalil Institute for Maliki fiqh. Choose the madhhab followed by the scholars of your region, or the one your shaykh recommends, and begin the path.
A Closing Word: Fiqh as a Means, Not an End
The real fruit of fiqh is not the sum of what you memorize but taqwa of Allah — leaving what He has forbidden and fulfilling what He has obligated. Make fiqh a path to servitude, ask the people of knowledge about whatever is unclear to you, and do not be shy to ask; whoever does not ask remains astray from knowledge that was within reach. May Allah grant us all sound fiqh and steady practice.
